The USA evaluators are working at Institute of Finance and Economics 12-March-2012
The quality of educational institutions is assured through an accreditation that is awarded by an accreditation body. This decision of accreditation body is based on the assessment of institution's self-study report and the report of independent evaluation team, which evaluates whether the institution has developed an academic quality management system and that the mechanisms and systems for continuous improvement are in place in accordance with the established standards.
In 2008, the Institute of Finance and Economics (IFE) became a member of Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), a well- known international accreditation agency, recognized and authorized by US Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. IFE submitted its self-study report to ACBSP at the beginning of this year. To follow up on this self-study, a three-member team, appointed by the ACBSP is visiting the IFE on March 11-14, 2012.
The team members are Dr. Diane Bandow, Associate Professor and Chair of Management at Troy University, Atlanta, Georgia, USA (team leader), Dr. John Shoemaker, President, American Informatics Inc. USA and Dr. Bruce Corrie, Professor and Dean of College of Business at Concordia University, Minneapolis, St Paul area, Minnesota, USA.
The main duties of this independent evaluation team are verifying the information in the self-study report and evaluating the relevant programs of IFE to help determine whether the standards for accreditation have been met. The team members will conduct interviews with representatives of IFE including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and employers to gain a deeper understanding of IFE activities. Independent evaluators will not make any decision on accreditation, but will develop a report to ACBSP based on their assessment of whether the standards are met or not by IFE. The report will be considered among other things at ACBSP accreditation council meeting in April 2012.
It is the time that the results of last four years' hard work and efforts by IFE in support of maintaining a continuous quality management system will be evaluated. The IFE has been informing the students, faculty and staff, alumni, employers, and journalists on the process of accreditation. The IFE will be the first Mongolian higher education institution that will be recognized in the USA and worldwide if accreditation decision is positive.
